Energy has been soup thick around here this week with love in every corner at every second. It's been a massive love fest for all. Heightened 'feels' feeling all the 'feels' brings obsession, extra play dynamics and unfortunately splitting the dogs up between 2 pens at times. They always have a buddy though and are never alone. It brings the energy level down, lessens the constant obsessions and removes the possibility of Tonka breeding with Leia.
The day... the hour that hormones shifted, Tonka was doing exactly what he should be doing. My breath has been held a bit tight until nature comes out of the wood work but the stars aligned exactly as they should.
You always hope to have events go smoothly and as planned, whether it's a breeding or a birth but until breedings are completed and pups are on the other side, my breath is held a touch. Tonka is not yet a proven stud so he's crossing all milestones now and is showing up and off like a rock star.
Meiko's breedings have now been completed and like clock work on a dime, Tonka pivots like a pro and puts his full and obsessed attention onto Isla.
The process is fascinating to watch actually how one hour attention can be blown into the wind and then the very next hour feet stop, nostrils twitch, teeth chatter and eyes get wide.
Tonka and Isla have also now been successful with their breedings right on schedule. They will continue to date a few more days until Isla is on the down side of her cycle but again stars have aligned.
Leia is only a few days behind Isla so close observation on Tonka has been in place.
I travel South in a couple of days to pair Leia up with Winston where their breedings should be just as successful as these first 2.
One of my daughters will hold down the fort here and be my trusted stand in while I am gone for 3 days. Not sure I could ever trust anyone else to care for my pack on days I need to be out of town. I am incredibly grateful for her offered help.
Next steps moving forward - we now wait 3 - 4 wks. For ultrasound pregnancy confirmation. Crossing my fingers, looking for more stars to align in having nothing short of 3 successful pregnancies that are smooth, healthy and on point the way that nature intends.
If everything goes as planned these pups should show up between Oct. 13th & the 23rd.
And then pups will all go home the beginning to mid Dec. Just in time to get settled in before everyone has time off for the holidays. Bonus!
As reality of what's ahead sinks in a little deeper, my head stops swirling and my feet start moving one in front of the other one step at a time. Additional nursery pens get ordered to expand my nursery space. Additional whelping boxes are on the way, additional meds, vaccines, supplies and more are also in transit. A bigger event tent will be in place for our puppy visit times since the rainy season will be in full swing. But we will make it work! Additional help has been contacted to make these visit weekends run smoothly. Where there is a will to make this work, there is a way!
Meiko's little 'Plant' babies should be just as perfect as her last with a splash of improved perfection since my dapper Tonka is behind this litter.
Isla should also have drop dead gorgeous 'Classic Toys' pups that will be phenomenal. She is 68 lbs. But Tonka is only 63 lbs so very average sized pups are expected and anticipated.
I can't wait to see what Leia will bring us as this will be her first litter. Leia is my smallest girl at only 60 lbs. But Winston is bigger sitting at 75 lbs. So I'm hoping for perfectly balanced pups but with a side of blockiness, width and thick structure. Of course I'm hoping for a full litter of girls to have as many female pups to look at as options for my hold back girl. I'll put in my 'order' for a female only litter!
By next week the buzz to the air around here should be smoothing and settling down. Everyone will come down a notch and not be so obsessed with each other.
This obsession made for good conversation and definitely a few good laughs as visitors came in. Discussions were had on why everyone was obsessed with everyone and how each and every step along this process works. Not sure my visitors wanted to be educated to this degree but the 'entertainment' around us was in full swing as we chatted so it was hard to get around! Oh the joys of visiting my place during this week!
My little Neema girl is growing like a weed on steroids and is now beyond tiny and pushing big quick. She holds her place in the pack like a champ and has fit right in around here. She sleeps perfectly with zero accidents and naps wherever whenever. Of course we also have scheduled naptimes but she also just crashes out in the yard if my home visits go a bit longer than anticipated.
She plays with everyone and vice versa but of course Tonka has fallen head over heels in love with her and let's her crawl all over him to her hearts content. His tolerance level is extremely high and has not yet shown its limit. She annoys Leia as well and she as well is unbelievably tolerable.
I missed introducing our latest additions here last week.
Meet the 'Eeny Meeny' Litter. Of course, Eeny, Meeny, Miny & Moe. Whenever we have a litter of kittens around here, I always joke around that we made extra puppy go home bonus items! Take your pick, Eeny, Meeny, Miny or Moe. Babies in every corner!!!
I hope everyone survived our stormy storm last night and all the pups got a little extra love. It was definitely a challenging storm to get through and one that no doubt tested many of us.
I send my love to you all and hope your week ahead brings just as much success as we are having and hoping to continue to have here.
