Shifting into a new season

I welcome the rain, gladly running through puddles as they grow by the second. The dogs tilt their heads, as if the sky has decided to play a trick on them, pouring water straight from the air. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a good soaking around here. The rhubarb instantly decides to re sprout almost in front of my eyes and the hostas think they want to re-sprout but quickly hide back down under. The dogs were a bit taken back from the rain blowing in sideways this morning as they bolted out into the darkness of the morning. They were all just as soaked as the earth within minutes. Speeding around the yard running in the path of my headlamp as if they have done this game a million times. The air definitely has a shifting smell. The leaves that fall around us and the cool gusts of air also remind me that indeed our days of warm sunshine are fading. Here they are basking in probably one of our last hotter days.
Everyone here has been happy as clams and in high spirits. Running, chasing, romping, rolling and scattering sand in every which direction. I receptively throw one of the many balls in the yard and they all race to retrieve it acting like it’s the last ball on earth. They look up smiling ear to ear so very proud of their win.
We’ve all been thoroughly enjoying our down time without pups but here and there I get a pang in my heart longing for babies around once again. Soon enough soon enough. In the mean time we spend lots of extra time together re connecting and just sharing space and balancing with one another again. When it's not raining, this is our evening night time routine. Snuggles before bed. I'm not sure who benefits more 💖
Thank you to all who have given me the opportunity this week to share some wonderful conversations and time to listen to your stories. I very much look forward to hearing more details in the upcoming months so I can find you that perfect new fur companion. We all here send our very best as you step out into the rain today and dance in this glorious shifting air that we have been blessed with.
