Meiko's 11 Spice Pups and Isla's 7 Beach pups have indeed arrived, as of yesterday exactly.
Introducing the Spice Girls - Cayenne/Red, Paprika/Orange, Thyme/Purple, Coriander/white, Rosemary/pink, Cinnamon/Brown and Ginger/yellow.
Spice Boys - Basil/Blue, Cumin/Brown and Caraway/Black.
These pups took an extra while to bake but I had my vet on board to make sure we were still within normal perimeters of our wait time. She reassured me that ovulation can be extended in a cycle and there is just no way to know when that happened. So pups show up when fully ready according to that date. Meiko was getting tired but she was happy and content so we waited. I thought for sure she was going to have these pups show up Friday night so I stayed up with her most of that night anticipating their arrival. Pups didn't start showing up until 5am yesterday morning. The other dogs intently tryed to sneek a peek at the new arrivals through the window.
By 11am she had brought 11 wee bundles of beautiful cream puffs into this world. Down right gorgeous babes. Cayenne only weighed in at 8oz. vs. 13oz on average so extra care and awareness will be given to her to make sure she'll catch up and stay on the right track. Meiko was a rock star through out the whole process and did amazing. Such a proud mama! A perfect retirement litter for our dear darling Meiko.
Changed her bedding and quickly ran inside to get cleaned up myself and by the time I spun on 1 foot Isla had shifted and a beautiful huge 17oz. baby boy had arrived. It did not take long before all 7 pups were squeaking and singing happy to be here.
Introducing Isla's 7 Beach babes. The 3 girls - Coral/Pink, Sandy/Brown and Pearl/black on white. The 4 boys - Bay/Green, Blue/blue, Reef/White on white and Rocky/Yellow.
Isla also did amazing and is a doting loving mama to 7 beautifully perfect big babies.
I have decided to let Isla raise little Cayenne to even out the litter sizes but Cayenne being so small just does not need to fight for the milk bar over with the Spice kids. So Cayenne will be a Spicy Beach babe! To give her a strong head start and the best chance to catch up a bit, I tube fed her every 3 hrs. throughout the night and she already has gained significantly and is fully nursing on her own so she'll be just fine. You can see how small she is in the bottom photo next to Bay and Coral.
It's been a long couple of days but I couldn't be more in blissful heaven consumed in the best way possible with so many blessings to bestow on these upcoming families.
We will focus on these babes intently, get some rest today and keep an eye on Leia as her BUG babies should be just around the corner. Can't wait to meet the last of the triple crew!
I will be in touch with all the families on board personally to officially assign them to these litters. Please be patient as I work through this system. It's a lengthy one but I will reach out soon.
As an extra bonus to yesterday, our Gorgeous Neema Zae turned 1 yesterday. What a momentous day all around. Happy 1st Birthday sweet girl!
